Friso Kramer

Friso Kramer is a surname-legend in the design world. His designs from the 1960s set new paths for the European design. He was the first who quit using bent steel pipes for furniture structures, instead, he introduced flat profiles which, on the one hand, gave furniture completely new ultra-modern features, on the other hand, were a technical revolution allowing to manufacture in a cheaper way. The Revolt chair brought him international fame and it became one of the best sold chairs ever. Kramer also designed several versions of school chairs, Dutch schools were equipped with them throughout the 1960s. His office designs are used even today and still give the impression of being modern and original, although many of them are more than fifty years old.
